HV motor control kit bus ripple

has TI worked on any code/algorithm for DC bus ripple elimination?  would like to try a design with reduced bus capacitance w/ a modified switching algorithm monitoring the DC bus ripple to produce a correct space vector on the output.  thought i'd check if that was in the works...

  • I believe some work was done few years back in TI on this topic .. I am not sure about the current status. You can always Google to see what others have done .. I believe you will find significant volume of work on this . Yes, it is possible to modify PWM switching pattern based on DC bus ripple to make inverter output immune to bus voltage variation. However, there are always trade-offs :-) first, there will always be a limit of this correction. Second - the DC bust ripple current will most likely go up and will most likely reduce the life of your bus capacitor bank. In an inverter stsrem the weakest link is your cap bank and it is imperative keep the cap bank within the temperature range. Ripple current will increase your cap temperature. Bottom line .. this correction method is very much application specific.
