TI provides a lot of good documentation and I am drowning in it at the moment. Is there something like a programmer's reference manual for the TMS320F28386S or its family? I need to make sure I am setting up my peripherals, shared pins, etc correctly.

Technical Reference Manual is good documentation. To get started with C2000 devices, TI has online training 'C2000 Academy'

In the TRM document, go to the peripheral you are working on. It has list of reference materials which are very helpful. If it same way in Academy. You can pick up the topic, and then it also useful resource for that IP.

Thank you for the reply but I am really disappointed. It may be comparing apples to oranges but look at other resources we use, like Nucleus or FreeRTOS. They provide very detailed reference manuals. So I think it would be handy to have a programmer's reference that put all of the peripheral commands in one place rather than go chasing down numerous examples.

While looking at your reference to ADC in the Academy I took a look for GPIO. I know it is simple enough but I did not find it there. Thus far I have been looking at header files to get the info I need. Maybe that is my best option.

Also consider that not all programmers are EEs so a programmer's reference would be helpful for them. They can get the syntax down and ask one of us EEs to fill in a few blanks if need be.

I hope someone will consider putting one together some day. I will keep hoping.

Ending on a positive note I should say there is plentiful good documentation for the most part and this forum is beyond my expectations.

First of all, thank you so much for the feedback. I have relayed your feedback to the team and the team will explore the possibility.

Technical Reference Manual is very close to the Developers Guide you mentioned for freeRTOS or Nucleus. C2000 Academy is designed in a way where anyone can start working with C2000 devices. If there is anything missing or can be improved, you will really appreciate for your feedback and thought. We are constantly exploring the ways to improve the Academy so that it is more useful for the customers.

Open the ADC lab. It will guide how to configure GPIO for toggling LED. We use SysConfig to configure the GPIO and it will generate the .c code for you.
