TMS320F280021: eQEP - position counter, capture timer, capture period register latch

Hi experts,

I am looking at the TMS320F28002x TRM having two questions regarding the eQEP peripheral. As far as I understand, the position counter (QPOSCNT), the eQEP capture timer (QCTMR) and capture period register (QCPRD) can be latched via a unit time out event generated by the eQEP unit time base (UTIME). Alternatively the position counter (QPOSCNT) can be latched using a Strobe or Index signal.

- Is it possible to synchronize the unit time base counter (UTIME) with an ePWM unit or SOCA/ SOCB generated from it?

- Alternatively, is it possible to latch the eQEP capture timer (QCTMR) and capture period register (QCTMR) inside the quadrature capture unit (QCAP) using a Strobe/ Index signal or an ePWM generated SOCA/ SOCB?

    This is not a functionality in the eQEP unit time base module. This module is simply a timer and there is no sync input to synchronize with an ePWM signal or SOC

    This is also unfortunately not possible. Per the TRM, the only events which can be used to latch the QCTMR and QCPRD are a unit time-out event generated by the unit timer or when the QPOSCNT register is read by the CPU.

    You can attempt to configure the ePWM time bases and eQEP unit timer to the same period and enable them together
