TMS320F28034-Q1: Substitution difference recommendation

Part Number: TMS320F28034-Q1

Hi,

Is TMS320F28035PAGS compatible with TMS320F28034PAGQ instead of P2P? Does the hardware and software need to be modified? What's the difference between them? In addition, TMS320F28035PAGS to replace TMS320F28027PTS, in addition to the package is different, what is the difference in software? Will the changes be large?

Many thanks~

  • TMS320F28035PAGS and TMS320F28034PAGQ : They are functionally and P2P equivalent.

Does the hardware and software need to be modified?

    No.

    What's the difference between them?

TMS320F28035PAGS is Commercial/Industrial Grade and follows JEDEC standards for the Qualification Process. TMS320F28034PAGQ is Automotive Grade and follows AEC-Q100 standards for the Qualification Process, which is more rigorous. In other words, Q devices go through a more rigorous testing process. There may also be differences in the IC packaging materials.

what is the difference in software? Will the changes be large?

No, the changes will be very minimal since F28035 is a "superset" part with more features and higher clock speeds, but still compatible with F28027. The PARTID/CLASSID values will be different for the parts but those values are rarely used by software.
