TMS320F28388D: Can not switch to PreOp successfully with example f2838x_cpu1_echoback_solution

When testing the SSC tool generated CiA402 solution for CPU1 I'm experiencing the same issue actually. I followed the process documented in Section 10.4 of the Beckhoff document below to create the NC Task, I'm assuming your customer did the same. I'm not sure why this issue occurs right now.

Did they not face this issue when testing the CiA402 solution for the CM core?

Are they trying with the standard cpu1_echoback_solution? Or the CiA402 cpu1 solution? I haven't tried with 'cpu1_echoback_solution' but can check if SM/DC sync works for that example.

They have test both cpu1_echoback_solution and CiA402 cpu1, both have the same issue that can not switch to PreOp in both SM/DC sync mode

What version of ControlCARD are you testing with? After further testing I have found that the older MCU063A version controlCARD has the DC issue, but MCU063B does not and works properly (i.e. can get to OP state with DC sync and change variables in TwinCAT).

This seems to be because the silicon version on the MCU063A version controlCARD is Revision 0, which has the errata below:

customer do use MCU063B, there is no DC issue, have the issue that can not switch to PreOp mode successfully,  if use CM based Ethercat example, there is no this issue.

When I tested with a MCU063B board yesterday the 'cpu1_echoback_solution' worked properly. I was able to get to OP mode with SM or DC sync enabled and confirmed I could change the task linked variables. I followed directions in section 3.3 Run Mode of the below ETG document for setting up TwinCAT for DC Sync:

I had tried with different C2000WARE and C2000 compiler versions. I thought I had run with the latest C2000WARE v4.02 with the latest C2000 compiler v22.6.0.LTS, but looking back at my workspace now I'm not certain.

Can they try with C2000WARE v4.00 or 4.01 and C2000 compiler v21.6.0.LTS? I know that I tried with these combinations and it worked with MCU063B ControlCARD.

There is no issue to work in op mode, only have issue when switch from op mode to PreOp mode. yes they did re-program the EEPROM for the 'cpu1_echoback_solution' correct.

Sorry for the delay, I just got back in the office from some vacation.

I re-tested with the below configuration and have no issues going from Init to Op state, or back from Op to Init state in TwinCAT for either DC sync or free-run modes. I'll see if I can record a video of it working to send you.

• C2000 Compiler version: TI v22.6.0.LTS
