TMS320F2812: About On-Chip Flash memory

Part Number: TMS320F2812

What is the size of the memory area of the TMS320F2812?

In Figure below, the on-chip flash memory is listed as 128 kBytes.
(RAM is 18kByte)

However, in Figure below, the on-chip flash is listed as 128kByte x 16.

Which memory area size is 128kByte or 2048kByte in the TMS320F2812?

  • The documentation doesn't mention bytes but you've incorrectly (but understandably) interpreted the units as bytes.

The C28x Minimum Addressable Unit is 16 bits so mentioning bytes in this context is incorrect. To reinforce the fact that the MAU is 16 bits, the documents try to qualifiy the memory size (K) value with "x 16".

In the table, it says "On chip flash (16 bit word) : 128k"

In the block diagram it says "128k x 16"

These are the same metrics expressed with slightly different words.

Just to be clear this device has 128k words of flash where a word is 16 bits.

  • Nowhere in the figures is the word "bytes" used. Kier's response is correct.
