TMS320F280049: fully digital controlled peak current mode reference design

Hi expert,

I have seen some peak current control reference design using C2000 by internal DAC and comparator, that's good actually however could I learn that if any fully digital scheme for peak current control with C2000?

Fully digital means using ADC to sample inductor current continuously and the inner current loop are processed fully inside MCU in digital format, including slope compensation.

If there's no such design presently, is C2000 able to realize this kind of digital control, if not, what is the limitation here?

Hi,

Please check TIDM-02000 or PMP23126 in DPSDK. Both are PCMC control and fully enabled by C2000.

Hi,

I have checked above, it is still mixed-signal peak current control, the inductor current is sent to internal comparator instead of ADC.

What I would like to find is a scheme in which the inductor current is sent to ADC directly.

Hi,

The HV current is sent to one of CMPSS port, which is also an analog port, for PCMC control. That is how PCMC is implemented for TIDM-2000 and PMP23126. I was not able to help you find one example of PCMC implemented without CMPSS.

Hi,

ADC conversion rates are not high enough on a C2000 for PCMC (this is generally true for microcontrollers). The control loop needs to detect and react to the inductor current reaching the threshold in a tiny fraction of the PWM period for precise control. This is why the analogue comparator is used to provide a trip signal rather than an ADC and digital comparator.
