LAUNCHXL-F28379D: 24 PWM channels

Part Number: LAUNCHXL-F28379D
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMS320F28379D

Hi Expert,

If I understand correctly, the LAUNCHXL-F28379D development kit does not have the capability to interface with all 24 PWM channels on the TMS320F28379D microcontroller chip. If we want to interface with all 24 PWM channels, We need to use a controlCARD instead. Kindly correct us please? thank you.

Best regards,

Jonathan

  • Hi Jonathan,

I think this is correct. I haven't done a complete analysis, but I'd doubt the LaunchPad brings out F2837x device pins that cover all 24 PWM channels. There are a lot of F2837x device pins that are not brought out to a header on the LaunchPad PCB.

If we want to interface with all 24 PWM channels, We need to use a controlCARD instead.

Yes, the ControlCARD design brings out almost all of the F2837x device digital pins to the HSEC connector. It provides at least one pin option for all 24 PWM channel signals, some may have multiple pin MUX options.

    Best,

    Kevin

  • On the controlCARD comment you'll have many standard locations that will be labeled as PWM, GPIOs0 though about 14. Those are all set there for all controlCARDs. Other PWM signals will need to be found in the channels further down labeled GPIO. I suspect all channels are brought out, but haven't confirmed.
