TMS320F28379D: Example code for Firmware update via SPI

Part Number: TMS320F28379D

Hi Champ,

I have similar question and support need with below post for my customer.

https://e2e.ti.com/support/microcontrollers/c2000-microcontrollers-group/c2000/f/c2000-microcontrollers-forum/1159184/tms320f280049c-firmware-update-via-spi

Since there is more and more system such as SOM module running on Linux which talks to C2000 device via SPI bus, so that there are more and more requests for the implementation of Firmware update via SPI.

Wondering besides there was already a serial flash programmer via SCI peripheral and provided the source code, is there any plan for having many firmware update implementation via other communications ?

I believe more and more customer would do the firmware update via SPI / CAN bus more and more often that SCI.

Is firmware update via SCI which would be the only and the last one we would have the implementation for serial flash programmer ?

Thanks and regards,

Johnny

  • Hi Johnny,

First, thanks for the question. The Serial Flash Host Programmer for SCI communication will definitely not be the last implementation for users to implement a firmware update. Currently as you may know there are the SCI, CAN, and USB flash programmers available for select devices. This is going to be expanded upon to other communication methods dependent upon further demand. I'll have to go over this with the team as well. If you would like to discuss this further, can always send a message or email thread, would be better to gain more detail.

    Thanks,

    Charles
