TMS320F28386S: Texas Instruments XDS100v2 USB Debug Probe_0/C28xx_CPU1 : Target must be connected before loading program.

One of my projects has started displaying this console message when a build is attempted:

Texas Instruments XDS100v2 USB Debug Probe_0/C28xx_CPU1 : Target must be connected before loading program.

I opened the target config file which has the right device and probe. Running Test Connection returns "The JTAG DR Integrity scan-test has succeeded."

Other projects still load correctly.

Your thoughts, suggestions, and prayers much appreciated.

    Hi John,

    This is very generic message. As per this it look like the target is not able to connect. Is the issue is with the project or the specific board ? When you say all other projects load correctly, is it on same board ? If yes then is this project has some specific configuration which is not in other project ? Can you also try to manually launch the target configuration file and then connect to target (CPU). Basically go to target configuration view (View -> Target Configuration) and then select your project specific target configuration file and then launch and connect to spec (see the snapshot below for reference)

    Thanks for posting. All projects are on the same board. This one project worked yesterday and stopped working today.

    While the troublesome project was open I opened the target config file in another project and tested the connection. Now the troublesome project works again though nothing changed.
