TMS320F28379D: How is MCU processing power derived?

Part Number: TMS320F28379D

Hello,

I am curious what test bench is used to get the processing power metric, like for TMS320F28379D the datasheet says 925 MIPS. My questions are:

  • Is it the processing power for dual core? Or just single core performance?
  • What is the test bench used to get the processing power? Dhrystone?
  • Do you have other processing power bench test scores, like CoreMark?

Many thanks,

Linwei

  • Linwei,

    For the F28379D with 2 C28x CPUs, and 2 CLAs, each running at 200MHz, the total MHz is 4 x200 = 800 MHz. And at 1 instruction/cycle this is 800MIPS (not 925).

Dhrystone and Coremark are internally benchmarked, but not recommended benchmarks for these real-time class of MCUs. We suggest looking at the signal chain benchmark spracw5

    Thanks,

    Sira
