Hello,
customer wants to call the Flash API from ROM. Does the user application (customer boot loader) function be copied to RAM for calling the Flash API if they program the same flash bank? Why?

I know it is written in the Flash API:
"In single-bank devices, the Flash API functions, the user application functions that call the Flash API functions, and any ISRs (Interrupt service routines,) must be executed from RAM."

Holger,

Flash API command functions are non-blocking functions. They issue the command then pass the control back to the application before the command is completed. Hence, it is important that the functions that call the flash API functions should be run from RAM.

can the application poll by itself if the command is completed? Or wait for a dedicated time?

Application can poll as shown in the flash API usage example in C2000Ware.

Holger,

Please see below taken from the flash API guide. The application in the flash bank should not be executed when there is an active flash operation on that flash bank. In below example, after the command is issued, the code that assigns the return value from the AsyncCommand to the oReturnCheck variable should be in RAM. Also, the next while loop waiting for the FSM to complete should also be executed from RAM.

Note: If the erase/program operation is active on a different bank, then the application can continue to execute from the flash bank on which there is no any flash operation targeted.
