TMS320F280039C: TMS320F280039C can not be detected

Part Number: TMS320F280039C

Dear TI team,

In the process of using F280039C, we found that after connecting the JTAG emulator, the CCS12 development environment on the host computer cannot detect 0039C and the following error message appears. However, when the same JTAG emulator is connected to our F280049-based PCBA, it can be detected by the computer. Could you please advise on how to troubleshoot this issue? What are the differences between connecting 0039 and 0049 to the CCS development environment? Many thanks!

  • Hi Rogers,

The process for connecting to the F280039C should be mostly the same as connecting to the F280049. The only change you should need to make in CCS is to your target configuration, and it looks like you have already done this.

Have you ever been able to connect to your F280039C device before? Also, did you follow all of the layout recommendations in your attached screenshot from the datasheet? Are any of your traces longer than 15 cm?

If you have access to an oscilloscope, could you try probing TDO (yellow), TMS (purple), TCK (blue), and TRST (green) as shown below? The screenshot below was captured using the XDS100, and it was a single-capture triggered on the falling edge of TMS. Could you try doing the same and see if your probed signals look the same?

    Best Regards,

    Ben Collier

  • Hi Benjamin,

Thanks for your reply! I have measured the TDI/TDO/TMS/TCK signals by the oscilloscope, please see the screenshot below, many thanks!

Are you able to share any details about the layout of your board? Could you also share the JTAG section of your schematic? I have sent you a friend request so you could send these details in a private message if you would prefer that. If the purple signal on your oscilloscope is TDO, then it looks like the device is shifting out bits, but may not be able to drive the signal fully high and fully low.
