Hello,
I am working with a solid-state transformer where I connect six ac-ac converter modules in series each with its own DSP controller. There are six modules in total and six DSP in total. The DSP's then communicates with another DSP using EtherCAT. I just wanted to know what software I need apart from Code Composer and TwinCAT 3 to communicate between the controllers. Can I use the 388D as a master and communicate with the 388D as a slave?
Regards,
Yousef
Hi Yousef,
I just wanted to know what software I need apart from Code Composer and TwinCAT 3 to communicate between the controllers.
What we have is available in C2000WARE. Please see the User's Guide in the install directory below:

Can I use the 388D as a master and communicate with the 388D as a slave?
No, it can only be used as an EtherCAT slave device. TwinCAT can be the master for your initial testing.
Best,
Kevin
Thank you,
Kevin.
I have one more question. If I want to use it as master controller, Matlab also has such packages, why use twinCAT when Matlab is more universal?

Yousef
Hi Yousef,
I'm not familiar with what MATHWORKS provides for EtherCAT support. Do you have some links or references to share?
TwinCAT is provided by Beckhoff, who defines the EtherCAT standard. It is a pretty universally used ECAT Master as well.
Best,
Kevin
