TMS320F28388D: about watchdog and NMI watchdog CPU reset

Genius 3186 points

Part Number: TMS320F28388D

Hi

My customer developing F28388D.

They want to set CPU1 reset trigged by CPU2 watchdog.

But now setting is CPU1 NMI interrupt -> read NMIFLG.CPU2WDRSn  -> reset by softwere.

Question1: Is there any way to  CPU2 watchdog  generate CPU1 reset directly?

My customer want to do looks like CM NMI watchdog generate CPU1 reset (using this:

SysCtl_enableCMtoCPUNMI(SYSCTL_FLAG_CMNMIWDRST); )in CPU2 watchdog that is not NMI watchdog.

Question2: Can CPU2 NMI watchdog set  same as looks like CM?

(For CPU2 NMI watchdog generate CPU1 reset.)

Question3: TMS320F28388D has  watchdog and NMI watchdog in ALL CPUs(CPU1,CPU2,CM)?

P.S.
Additional question:I think NMIFLG Register does not has Flag that seted by CM watchdog.

This means there is no way  notification CM watchdog event to CPU1?

Thanks,

GR

  • Hi,

Question1: Is there any way to  CPU2 watchdog  generate CPU1 reset directly?

CPU2 watchdog reset will generate the NMI on CPU1. User can generate the reset via SW inside CPU1 NMI handler.

Question2: Can CPU2 NMI watchdog set  same as looks like CM?

No, this feature is only applicable for CM. In case of CPU2, reset to CPU1 can be generated via NMI only.

Question3: TMS320F28388D has  watchdog and NMI watchdog in ALL CPUs(CPU1,CPU2,CM)?

    Yes

Additional question:I think NMIFLG Register does not has Flag that seted by CM watchdog.

This is because watchdog on CM does not generate reset to CM. It only generates NMI and if NMI is not serviced by CM then it'll generate reset and that can generate NMI to CPU1. Please see below snapshot from the device TRM.

This means there is no way  notification CM watchdog event to CPU1?

    Clarified in last point.

    Hope this helps.
