TMS320F28069M: Relation between Sample Window and number of times the sampling is done

Part Number: TMS320F28069M

I want to understand how is the sample window value related to the number of samples taken for ADC conversion.

Let's say if the sample window is set to 6, does it takes the average for the whole duration or does it do 6 conversion in the sample window.

  • Hello,

Let's say if the sample window is set to 6, does it takes the average for the whole duration or does it do 6 conversion in the sample window.

The sample window is used to set the time for charging the sampling capacitor of the ADC. It is not related to the number of conversions the ADC is actually performing. The more time you allow for the sampling capacitor to charge to the voltage seen on the pin, the more accurate the ADC reading will be. That being said, it's not really doing an "average" during that duration but rather getting the final voltage seen on the sampling capacitor at the end of the sample window time.
