TMS320F280049C: when will program that specified to run in ram be copied from flash to ram

Part Number: TMS320F280049C

Hi Team,

There is an issue from the customer need your help:

Program like flashapi, is it starts copy while init that before the program runs or while program runs to this line?

Also will a non-power-down command restart (such as a watchdog) reset the RAM space?

Is there a command to clear RAM to facilitate LFU dynamic hardware updates? Are there any routines?

Could you help check this case?

Thanks & Regards,

Ben

  • Hello Ben,

Program like flashapi, is it starts copy while init that before the program runs or while program runs to this line?

It depends on whether they are using the .binit table in their linker command file. If they are, the copy will happen before main is run. Otherwise, they will need to manually call the memcpy function which will copy the specified contents of Flash to RAM.

Also will a non-power-down command restart (such as a watchdog) reset the RAM space?

According to the Reset Causes and Handling section of the ROM chapter in the reference manual, RAM initialization only happens when there is a power-on reset, so a watchdog should not reset RAM.

Is there a command to clear RAM to facilitate LFU dynamic hardware updates? Are there any routines?

If the customer is looking for a function to reset RAM, the MemCfg_initSections function can be used to initialize specified RAM sections to a known value. You can check the memcfg.h file to see what RAM sections can be specified.
