CC2340R5 : Standby Current issue

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC2340R5, LP-EM-CC2340R5

hello ,

we are facing issue in standby current of cc2340r5 , following result observed in project

1. Import Project  :  gpiostandby

sleep current observed is 385 uA

2. Import Project : basic_ble

Sleep current observed is 483 uA

What current should be expected in new low power sdk ??

CC2340R52E0RKP device PG2.0 (Production sample)

SDK downloaded  : simplelink_lowpower_f3_sdk_7_10_00_11_eng

Thanks & Regards,

Pooja Fugare

  • Hello Pooja,

Thanks for reaching out, can you explain the set up on how you are taking current measurements, while I find out what the current expectation is for the new sdk.

    Kind Regards,

    Rogelio

  • Hi RogelioD ,

Thank you for your quick reply

      Current measurement process followed is

    1. Download Standby project .hex or .out file in device
    2. Connect multimeter in series with VCC and gives supply to to device
    3. Check current observed on multimeter .

    Thanks and Regards ,

      Pooja

  • Hi Pooja,

Just wanted to let you know ill follow up with an answer on monday.

    Kind Regards,

    Rogelio

  • Hi Pooja,

The standby current we expect to see should be around what is mentioned in the data sheet

Currently, what you are seeing is quite high. Are you using a custom board or a launchpad?

    Kind Regards,

    Rogelio

  • Hii Rogelio ,

Thank you for your support ,

I am using custom board because the Launchpad LP-EM-CC2340R5 IC is PG1.0 version and sdk simplelink_lowpower_f3_sdk_7_10_00_11_eng is for PG2.0 IC Version .

  • Hi Pooja,

This will be harder to debug as it is on a custom board. I recommend firstly doublechecking that there are not external peripheral devices that could be drawing power, such as gpios, etc... If there is a way to Isolate just the CC2340R5 device for power consumption from your hardware, that would be ideal. Another option is if you have more cc2340R5 PG2.0 to solder it onto the PG1.0 Launchpad.

Have you submitted your custom hardware for hardware review?

    Kind Regards,

    Rogelio
