TMS320F240PQA read/write old project

Hello Team,

Posting on behalf of my customer:

Dear TI,
I would need to read the flash of a F24x device (specifically TMS320F240PQA), and rewrite it to a new unit, because the original device has a damaged port.
What's the last version of CCS the supports this family of devices?
Isn't there a free option to just read and write the flash?

Regards,

Renan

  • Hello

This device has not been supported in a long time. The last tools that supported this device would be the old "Code Composer" (without the "Studio") tool from ~25 years ago. It requires a paid license. Did the customer once have a paid license?

Also note that Code Composer did not support writing to flash. I believe Spectrum Digital had some tools once but unfortunately they are no longer in business.

    Thanks

    ki

  • Hello Ki,

They don't have any license , can give me some details about the spectrum tools? They just need to read and write the flash.

Note, the above comment is not correct. I got confused.

There is a special Code Composer Studio v3.3 build with support for 24x. This one is only ~14 years old. But it still has not been supported in a long time and requires a paid license.

The Code Composer Studio 3.3 version I mentioned above does support flashing the 24x device. So this can be an option. The customer mentioned an existing device so I assume CCS was used in the past to develop the code on the existing device. That might mean they once had a license a long time ago?
