TMS320F28062: Spread spectrum clock input supported?

Part Number: TMS320F28062

Hey C2000 team,

I have a customer using the TMS320F28062 for a project and they currently use a 10MHz oscillator as the XCLKIN input. For EMI purposes they would like to switch to a 10MHz Spread Spectrum oscillator to reduce noise.

Is this supported by this MCU family as a source for the XCLKIN input?

Best regards,

Matt Calvo

  • Matt,

We do not support SS Oscillator input on our C2000 MCUs.  The concern here is the PLL used to multiply up to 90MHz target may not function correctly using SS input.

I'm not sure of the practicality, but if customer can find SS Oscillator in the frequency range they want to use the device and bypass the PLL, then that would be acceptable.

    Best,

    Matthew

  • Thanks for the feedback Matthew!

I will pass this info along to my customer and notify them to comment back on this thread with any follow-up questions they may have.

    Best regards,

    Matt
