TMS320F28032: TMS320F28032

Part Number: TMS320F28032

Hello, I asked this question yesterday, however, I may have failed to complete the Form because, I did not see my question posted. Therefore, I will ask again.

When using the TI, TMS320F28032 Micro Controller, could I use the GPIO30 [ CANRXA [ I ] port [ pin 33 ] to bias a Transistor ON [ MMBT3904WT1 ] ?

Would it be better if I used the GPIO31 [ CANTXA [ O ] port [ pin 32 ] instead ?

The reason I am asking is because the Data Sheet lists CANRXA as an Input [ I ] and CANTXA as an Output [ O ]. Is the " I " and " O " labels only regarding, interfacing these ports to communication devices ?

Thank you and good day.

  • Hello Robert,

I'm not familiar with using a GPIO to bias a transistor, are you trying to use CAN specifically to bias the transistor, or just the GPIO itself?

Is the " I " and " O " labels only regarding, interfacing these ports to communication devices ?

Yes, that is correct; the RX is an input and the TX is an output, but the GPIO can be configured to be either outside of being used for the CAN peripheral.

    Best regards,
