The author's intention is run program code from RAM instead of flash because RAM uses fewer clock cycles than flash to execute the same instruction. It is useful for CPU load intensive functions run at high rates.

In the linker file (.cmd) there will be a LOAD (flash address) and a RUN (RAM address). The user must copy the program code from flash to RAM at initialisation.

Note the symbol "ramfuncs" is arbitrary and not mandated by the compiler/linker. It does not have to be....

...it could just as easily be...

#pragma CODE_SECTION (main_loop,"apples")

...as long as there is an output section called "apples" in the linker file. More info here:
