C2000 AC/DC Developer's Kit --boot from SCI

Hi All

I'm a new user of C2000 AC/DC developers kit. I would like to boot it with a "Test Drive with GUI"--- i,e, start the GUI & kit with RS232.  I followed the instructions of the User Guide. However , I couldn't load the program with the provided .a00 file.  I found the LEDs on control card were not lit.  Shall I use an aux 5V power to to it? Anyone can help me?

Thanks a lot,

Violet

  • Hi Violet,

I am assuming you connected a 24V AC input to the board. After making this connection did the 12V, 5V and 3.3V bias LEDs light up? If not, you might want to check the input fuse. If everything looks ok as far as the bias voltages are concerned, I would suggest you to try connecting the GUI with only a 12V external dc bias supply connected (no AC input). Make sure that red wire of the serial cable aligns with Pin4 of J18 as shown in QSG-ACDC document. Also when setting up the GUI connection, make sure that 'boot on connect' is checked and that you are using the correct COM port.

Let me know how this goes.

  • Hi Hrishi,

Thanks a lot for your reply. Yes, I used external 5V to check the GUI/connection later. Later I found it was due to the fuse. It works after I change a new fuse.  However, I seem to have another problem now.

After load the *.a00 file, it  works if I keep PFC Output as 0V. (At this time, the total power sinking is about 2W -- for DSP, it sinks about 0.3A).  If I set PFC Output as "48V", then click "send", the communication will suddenly get lost. The GUI asks me to reconnect again. So I power cycle and reconnect it, then the fuse burns.  I use a 2.5-3A fuse instead of the original 10A type. The load on the output port is about 3ohm. I don't think it's due to "too heavy load"  as the PFC output has never reached more than 48V and it is 0V at output. The PFC output is about 12V when I use 11VAC. Could you pls give me some more advice here? Is it because I used a too low fuse? Will it be ok if I test the EVM with no load? Or shall I use emulator instead of RS232 for robust stability? My emulator is on the way.... I'm still waiting for it.

    Thanks again,

    Violet

  • Hi Violet,

Did you try working with a 12V aux power supply as suggested in the user guide? Is the board working for you now? Let me know.
