I will check to confirm this with another expert, but I believe writing to these registers is not an illegal operation, it just is used to prompt the transfer to start while not actually changing the bits. Again, I will confirm this with another expert just to make sure.

Hi ,
There is a typo error , it should have been "I2CMCS_WRITE" register instead of "I2CMCS" register for the 0x3 write statement.
