TMS320F28379D: GUI disconnected while giving clear trip in build 1 (3-Phase Vienna Rectifier)

Using TMS320F28379D, 3-phase vienna rectifier while giving clear trip in build 1 (open loop) using JTAG communication from CCS GUI, the GUI gets disconnected and XRS pin of the TMS320F28379D was pulled low. I has probed the +3.3V-VDD and +3.3V-VDDOSC both were observed with PWM frequency noise (frequency at which PWM generating from the DSP).

GUI shows pop up as CPU is in hibernate or low power mode. Do you want to wake-up the micro controller. It seems like this error was due the XRS pin pulled low after giving clear trip.

Can you help with this what may be the reason for the above behaviour.

Hi,

Yes, this is because of XRSn getting pulled low. Are you using your custom board or some board provided by TI ?

Hi Vivek,

This is custom board. I had successfully loaded the code and ADC readings were validated. This shows that, there is no mistake in JTAG connection. I had probed the supply voltages +3.3V-VDD, +1.2V-VDD, +3.3V-VDDOSC all remains stable. Now even the XRS pin was not pulled low but the GUI gets disconnected. It seems like due to PWM frequency noise disturbs the JTAG communication from the micro controller to PC. Can you suggest the suitable solution to verify the problem and any other reasons for XRS pulled low.

If you have PWM noise affecting the supply voltage on the board then that is is definitely going to trip the JTAG and pull XRSn low, This should never happen on the board. A proper isolation on the board between supply and any active signal should be done to avoid these issues. XRSn get pull low when system watchdog get timeout and issue reset to system.

In want to run SFRA for our custom design vienna rectifier board. But the power suite version limits the switching frequency by 200kHz. Is there any way to run SFRA for vienna rectifier with higher switching frequency and custom design parameters usingnon power suite version.

Hi Joseph,

Can you please use the non-power SUITE version of F28379D code, this gives you enough flexibiliity to change the parameters as required.

Let me know if still the XRSn is pulled low?

There is a way we could run SFRA standalone without GUI which I am unsure. I can get back to you on this tomorrow, as the expert is OOO.

Yeah I will use non power suite version. Now the XRS is not pulled low after isolating the Microcontroller ground from AC mains ground. One thing I need to know is how to run SFRA in non powersuite version.
