You mentioned that it happens only sometimes and not always. If you run the updater manually from the C2000Ware installation directory, how does it behave?

like I wrote in my first post :

I get the same error when I manually try to start the "Update C2000Ware" from the Windows Start menu, but the program doesn't start.

I haven't able to reproduce this issue on my PC and am not sure what maybe causing it.  The updater utility access the xml file on a server and figures out if the installed version is the latest. 

Will let you know if I have any other suggestions to figure out the cause for this issue.

If you think proxy might be the cause for this, you can create a "properties.ini" file with the following content 

[Proxy]
enable=1
server=
port=

Specify the proxy server and port number and save it in the same directory as the updater utility and then try running it.
