TMS320F28P650DK: SCI loopback example not working

hi,

The follwoing sci example C:\ti\c2000\C2000Ware_5_00_00_00\device_support\f28p65x\examples\cpu1\sci\sci_ex1_echoback.c is not working for F28p65x.

I went through the documentation aand ensure S1 both positions are set to on'.

Please let me know if I have to take care of any other settings.

Also, the position of S1 in the actual board is differnt from the documentation. Int hedocumentation , it says S1 is on the back side, however, in the actual board, it is on the front side.

Thanks for your question. I believe the examples are validated upon release, can you please try to step through this guide and let me know 1) which issue seems the most like what you are observing and 2) scope capture of the pins on the board?

Hi Vince,

I tried debugging. The code is stopped at line 169 of sci_ex1_echoback.c. It is as if it is not receiving any data through COM Port. Do I need to take care of any other switch setting other than S1.

Are you using E1 revision of the controlCARD? There is no SCI/UART support on REV E1:

Hi,

Yes I am using E1 revision of the control card.

Can I use a separate FTDI chip with different SCI tx and rx to communicate between target and host computer?

Hi Mukul,

Yes, you can use a separate FTDI chip (that is 3.3V compatible, 5V will damage the C2000 device) and different TX/RX pins to use SCI/UART.
