TMS320F280037C: CCS 12.3.0 Install Issues

Part Number: TMS320F280037C
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AWR1843

Our customer Parker Hannifin is trying to install CCS 12.3 to begin development with the TMS320F280037C and AWR1843. They keep running into the same issue with the install, see attached for screenshots and error logs. Original email:

"I have been trying to install CCS version 12.3 and I am consistently seeing the same installation error pertaining to copying of files. I have tried it on 2 different parker laptops but to no avail.

Here is the link I used to download CCS from the TI website - https://dr-download.ti.com/software-development/ide-configuration-compiler-or-debugger/MD-J1VdearkvK/12.3.0/CCS12.3.0.00005_win64.zip and I am attaching the complete installation log which reports the error, a screenshot of the error prompt I get during installation as well as the screenshot of the error code message from the log."

Thanks!

  • Hello,

    A common cause for this type of error is due to aggressive antivirus software. Would it be possible to temporarily disable it and try installing again?

    Thanks

    ki

  • Hi Ki,

    Our customer worked with their IT department to see if the antivirus was causing any issues but came to the conclusion that it was not the case. See error_report.txt below:

    av={Windows Defender} {Fortinet Endpoint Detection and Response}
    logdir=C:\Work/ccs/install_logs/20230731133859
    GUID=38c68dc2-680f-4aab-6412-e755272f93de
    type=IB

    type=IB

    Any other potential issues that might be causing this? Thanks!

  • Windows Defender is typically not an issue. However I'm not sure about Fortinet.

    Did they actually disable all security software and try installing CCS? Or just ran a diagnositic?

  • Hi Ki,

    Here's some more information from the customer:

    "We came to the conclusion after checking the report generated by Fortinet.

    After working with the IT team , we did make some progress and got the software to install now on my system. Although now when I load the project, I get an error(photo attached) so is this package expected to be a part of the install package or does this have to be downloaded independently ? Are there any other/similar packages which we should know about ?"

    Great! Can you share any details regarding the resolution to help others who may be running into similar issues?

    SYS/BIOS does not come with the default CCS installation. You can download a standalone version via: https://software-dl.ti.com/dsps/dsps_public_sw/sdo_sb/targetcontent/bios/sysbios/6_73_01_01/index_FDS.html

    Thanks

  • Hey Ki,

    Appreciate the help! Here's the comment from their IT team:

    "We have traced our issue with installing CCS to FortiEDR  (Endpoint Detection and Response) product that is installed on all our systems.  FortiEDR is a real-time threat detection, protection and automated response system.  FortiEDR was not recording any blocks on the client nor Central Server when installing a specific CCS option (mmwave).  Installing CCS without mmwave option worked as expected. When we temporarily disabled FortiEDR on the client system, install proceeded without any issues.  Identical behaviour was observed on Deversh and another test system.  We have submitted a help request to our Corporate Team and will be asking them to report this issue to the software vendor to investigate further and provide resolution."

  • Thank you for sharing the details! Much appreciated.
