TMDSSOLARUINVKIT: ADC GPIO pins

Hello.

I have your TMDSSOLARUINVKIT and noticed that you are using lots of ADC pins for measuring reference voltage (such as 1_65V_REF, 0_5V_REF, 0_8V_REF, 2_5V_REF). As I need couple ADC for my project I asking is it safe to use them for other purposes - such as expand the solar microinverter to have more than one PV panel. Asking in another way... are they needed in TMDSSOLARUINVKIT solar microinwerter or can I use them to other than measuring voltage reference purposes?

Hi Wojciech,

Looking at the code only VREF165_FB is used for offset correction. Rest of them do not seem to be used. In this case you can use the other channels for something else.

Hi Pawan Nayak. OK, I understand. Thanks for info. I know that TMDSSOLARUINVKIT kit is developed to handle one PV panel but I'm considering to handle four PV panels. So I have a question, from the F28035 MCU peripherals (ADC, PWM) point of view is it possible to achieve this goal?

Hi Wojciech,

I will recommend using either F28003x or F28004x. These have more MIPs, more ADC, comparator and PWM channels and have support for floating point accelerators and are more suited towards multi-panel microinverters.

OK. But for now your TMDSSOLARUINVKIT kit is the only one solar microinverter reference board with working software so information that this MCU can handle four PV panels is helpfull for me and information on what I should pay attention to in order to achieve this goal would be valuable.

For 4 panel you will need to control 4 boost converter. This will require more mips, more ADC and PWM. I will also recommend F28003x. Pls count your number of PWM, ADC and select appropriate MCU. For meeting MIPS requirement, you can choose any MCU with 100MHz or more
