I am trying to program our proprietary target board which is designed around the TMS320F28035 using Uniflash and first the XDS100v3 and now the XDS110. I have been having extremely erratic results. Mostly it fails with the error message below. I have an interface board that the people who manufacture and program our boards supplied me with and have attached a pic of the setup but I do not have the schematic for that interface board at this time.

Can you please explain to me the proper interface I must use between the JTAG cable from you XDS debug probe and the C2000.

Error connecting to the target: (Error -2131 @ 0x0) Unable to access device register. Reset the device, and retry the operation. If error persists, confirm configuration, power-cycle the board, and/or try more reliable JTAG settings (e.g. lower TCLK). (Emulation package 9.11.0.00128)

    Hi,

    Could you please validate your setup by making sure that you can connect when using CCS? It will be easier to debug with Code Composer Studio. With your target configuration in CCS, could you please 'Test Connection' and post your output log here? Also, could you trying lowering your JTAG TCK frequency in the advanced tab of your Target Configuration file in CCS?

    I cannot connect with the CCS either. The CCS Test Connection fails with the same error as Uniflash did. We are not doing debug now anyway we are just attempting to flash production code. We have lowered the frequency to 500khz without any better results.

    Hi Bruce,

    Not sure how that got marked as resolved. 

    If you have access to an oscilloscope, could you try probing TDO (yellow), TMS (purple), TCK (blue), and TRST (green) as shown below? The screenshot below was captured using the XDS100, and it was a single-capture triggered on the falling edge of TMS. Could you try doing the same and see if your probed signals look the same? 

    Are you able to share the schematic of your board?
