TMS320F28379D: Simulation

Part Number: TMS320F28379D

Hello

In the product page of TMS320F28379D, under design tool and simulation section there is BSDL/IBIS models are given. may i know what kind of simulation is performed/ which is the simulation platform used ?

thanks and regards

  • Anoop,

To create these models we use some internal spice simulators to capture and verify the IBIS models from the actual device design.  The BSDL is generated from standard EDA tools from the device database and validated against the BSDL standard for JTAG boundary scan.

For usage, there are various options.  IBIS is for PCB signal integrity simulations, so your PCB design software may be able to use these.  PCB signal integrity analysis targets overshoot/undershoot optimization using termination as needed or also trace coupling simulations.  Some PCB designers will simply use rule of thumb best practices and do not go to the step of analysis.  This decision will be up to the application needs.

BSDL describes the JTAG 1149.1 boundary scan implementation.  This is used for PCB assembly verification.  Boundary scan can check for opens or shorts between different IC's on the board to detect solderability or PCB defects.  There are many vendors for Boundary Scan test.

    Best regards,

    Jason
