TMS320F2812: Spectrum digital XDS510LC usb emulator connection error

Part Number: TMS320F2812

I have designed a custom board using TMS320F2812 and using XDS510LC usb emulator. I used sample hello world project already existing in CCSv6.1.1 to test whether the code is getting flashed into the custom board. When i tried to flash the code, I am getting below error.

Please help me solve this

Thanks

Prashant

  • Can you verify the following:

    • "If you want to verify a successful USB driver install, right mouse on Control Panel, then select Properties -> Hardware -> Device Manager. You should see a new class “SD USB Based Debug Tools” and one Spectrum Digital XDS2000 USB emulator installed."
    • Are you using the 1.8V low voltage adapter? Per my understanding this should NOT be used with the F2812 since it is a 3.3V I/O device.
    • Ensure you have the right pinout on the JTAG connector of your custom board.

  • Prashant,

XDS510LC was made by Spectrum Digital, a company that is no longer in existence. As such, there is no technical support or software updates for this debug probe. I highly recommend you switch to a newer probe, which not only cost less but have much better support and compatibility. For example, Debug probes such as XDS110 only cost $135, just a fraction of XDS510 LC. It is simply not worth the time debugging an obsolete tool, when cheaper and more reliable alternatives are available.

I also recommend you switch to the most recent version of CCS.

While TI has no plans of obsoleting the F2812 anytime soon, I wonder if you have looked at our new generation devices. Many of them have more features than the F2812 and often at a lower cost.
