TMDSCNCD2800157: What is the difference between XTAL and X1 configuration in Sysconfig if i want to connect the on-board(TMDSCNCD2800157) Crystal oscillator?

Part Number: TMDSCNCD2800157
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMS320F2800157, , SYSCONFIG

If i want to connect OSCCLK of TMS320F2800157 micro-controller with below on-board (TMDSCNCD2800157) oscillator, then which Sysconfig configuration do i have to select it? XTAL or X1 ?

Kindly explain the difference between this two X1 and XTAL config, when to use X1 and XTAL ?

  • Hi Meet,

Feeding external clock to F2800157 can be accomplished through X1 pin alone.  You can use an external precision oscillator to feed the clock in X1 pin.  You can also use an external crystal (XTAL).  This requires connection to X1 and X2 pin.  To use the on-board XTAL on TMDSCNCD2800157, select the XTAL option in Sysconfig.  For details on the clocking scheme, check the datasheet Clocking subsection under Sytem section.

    Regards,
