TMS320F28379D: GUI Composer: Error "Target is not halted" when using custom CCXML and GEL

Part Number: TMS320F28379D

I am trying to use a custom ccxml file and gel for my target.

I have the ccxml file uploaded into GUI composer, and have the appropriate ccxmlpath defined.

The ccxml file references the GEL file located at c:\workspace\f28379d_cpu2.gel on my PC.

The ccxml file and GEL file work together under CCS.  But under GUI composer, I get an error message when trying to connect:  

Note the "Target is not halted".  So perhaps I need to add another GEL_Halt() somewhere in my GEL file?  Can you suggest where?  

The ccxml and gel files are attached.

    Try zipping ir up and then attaching the zip. Another option is to rename the file extension to *.txt.

    You have GEL_Halt() in the StartUp() function:

    StartUp()
{
	GEL_Halt();
}

    You should not have any functionality in StartUp() that requires a connected target  (like GEL_Halt() ). StartUp() runs when the startup GEL file is first loaded, which is typically before the target is connected.

    The recommend place for such actions is in the OnTargetConnect() call:

    Note that the debugger typically halts the target after connecting unless instructed otherwise. The behavior can vary depending on the device (like C2000) and tool (like GUI Composer vs CCS).

    Thanks for the feedback.  

    The ccxml and gel are working for me under CCS.  I'll remove GEL_Halt() from StartUp() and see what happens.

    I also think I found part of the issue under GUI composer. 

    I had modified the gel file to automatically run (GEL_run) CPU2 after it is loaded by CCS.  (I don't want to have to manually start the program on CPU2 after it is loaded every time I start a new debug session).  The GEL_run() was added in OnRestart() and OnFileLoaded(). 

    If I remove these modifications, it works under GUI composer.  GUI composer must use a different mechanism to run the cores, and the GEL_run() gets in the way.
