TMS320F280039C: AQTSRCSEL Register and TZSEL Register

Part Number: TMS320F280039C

Hi Champs,

My customer is wants to use both T1 triggered Delayed trip and one-shot trip.

so he set T1 signal source as DCAEVT2(AQTSRCSEL Register). and he wants to use one-shot trip source as DCBEVT1.

He didn't want DACEVT2 makes trip to EPWM, so he set TZSEL only for the DCBEVT1.

However, if he does not set the DCAEVT2 to enable on TZSEL register, T1 does not generated.

if he enables DCAEVT2 on TZSEL, then PWM turned off before the T1 works. so the deadtime is not working.

if he sets TZCTL register TZA and TZB field to Do nothing, then PWM works normal but one-shot trip is not working.

How can I set ePWM registers to make both T1 and one-shot?

Regards,

Ted

  • Hello Ted,

To clarify further application needs T1 Signal source to be set as DCAEVT2, and DCAEVT2 to do nothing.

Also, please confirm if the following was implemented in code :

    TZSEL.DCBEVT1 = 1 (Enable DCBEVT1 as one-shot-trip source for this ePWM module)
    AQTSRCSEL.T1SEL  = 0001 (DCAEVT2)
TZCTL.DCAEVT2 = 11 (Do Nothing, trip action is disabled) and do not need to set TZA, TZB in TZCTL.

Also on your comment "However, if he does not set the DCAEVT2 to enable on TZSEL register, T1 does not generated" how is this possible ? - TZSEL Register (Trip zone select register is not for selecting T1 source it needs to be done in AQTSRCSEL register only.

    Thanks,

    Prarthan.

  • Hi Prarthan,

Please confirm in your desk that T1 works without TZSEL.DCAEVT1 = enable.

with my launchpad, it does not work. if T1 can work with TZSEL.DCAEVT1 = 0, then please share that example code with me.

and if I don't set the TZA and TZB, then how can I turn off the both PWM A/B when I get the signal form DCBEVT1?

Please let me know how to do it too.

it will be very helpful to solve this issue. if you let me know how to do it, then Customer and I don't need to use CLB.

    Regards,

    Ted

  • Hi Ted,

If you want to Turn off the both PWM A/B when we get the signal from DCBEVT1 on one-shot trip event you need to set TZA and TZB.

Now on to your first question:
T1/T2 selection and configuration of a trip/digital-compare event in Action Qualifier submodule is independent of the configuration of that event in the Trip-Zone submodule.

Also note that : If comparator T1 / T2 events are used to edit the PWM, changes to the PWM waveform do not take place immediately. Instead, the waveform synchronizes to the next TBCLK.
When you do TZSEL.DCAEVT1 = 1 you are configuring DCAEVT1 to be a one-shot trip source and not enabling/configuring T1 event or its source.

When you say T1 doesn't work how was that concluded how are you using T1 event in Action qualifier module ?

Also can you please share me your code files including the header files and I will try to replicate the same on my bench.

    Thanks,
    Prarthan.

  • Hi Prarthan,

It turns out if I don't set the TZCTL.DCAEVT2 = 3, then the output goes to Hi-Z and Action qualifier cannot change the output.

so if customer wants to use T1 or T2, they should make sure that TZCTL field value that connects to the T1/T2 to 3: Do Nothing, trip action is disabled. or output will be blocked by Hi-Z.

    Regards,

    Ted
