TMS320F280025C: Do we need to calculate the Scale Factor

Part Number: TMS320F280025C

Hi, I want to confirm my understanding of Type-1 HRCAP calibration.

If continuous calibration is selected, then the Scale factor is calculated every time any of the counter overflows or after the calibration period (1.6 ms as suggested by TI for most of the conditions), and then sf is used to get the time in nS from the raw count.

If continuous calibration is not selected then we calculate the SF only once as calibration is only done once, If there is a change in PVT then the Scale factor may change but the calculations for nS conversion will be done only with a constant scale factor irrespective of the PVT changes.

Please confirm.

Regards,

Aditya

  • Hi Aditya,

Your understanding is correct. However we suggest to always have continuous calibration enabled when HR is enabled. Setting the calibration period is a crucial step in order to reduce the error for capturing the signal.
