TMS320F28375S: TMS320F28375SPTPT Silicon Revision Differences

Part Number: TMS320F28375S

 Hi, my customer had a question regarding the die revision (“2016 F771820B” vs “2015 F771553C”) and curious to see what that means as well as if such differences will affect the functionality or reliability of the components.

Below are more details to share:

DC 2244 YF representing Fab TSMC Taiwan per PCN from Digi-key

DC 2248 $7 representing Fab UMC Singapore per PCN from Digi-key

I did some searching and found below PCN specified that there are several existing wafer fab sites, which included the 2 fab site (TSMC and UMC). But I am not quite if that the main cause. The main question is on whether the different die revision will function differently or have different reliability performance.

    The main question is on whether the different die revision will function differently or have different reliability performance.

    No, the device from both fabs undergoes the same testing and validation to meet the datasheet specifications we provide for the F2837xS, so functionally it is the same device. As long as the system is designed within what's specified in the datasheet, the silicon revision should not matter.

  • I appreciate your response, Omer! Will share with the customer. Just one thing out of my own curiosity, is it due to wafers can run out in some fabs, and thus use different die revision? normally same part with similar date codes would have same die revision, which to my limited understanding on this part.
