LP-XDS110: Disable VTRef check

Hello TI,

I want to flash / debug a target without connecting the internal 3.3V supply of the target to the probe. The reason are space constrains...

Using the onboard debugger of a LAUNCHXL-F280025C to debug the target works fine. Anyway, if I use a stand-alone XDS110, it fails with the error 'SC_ERR_XDS110_TARGET_SUPPLY' - of course it cannot sense the internal supply voltage without a physical connection.

Is there a way to disable the VTRef check of the XDS110?

Hi Markus,

By stand-alone XDS110 you are meaning TMDSEMU110-U?

I'm not sure if there's a way to remove the VTRef check and we only provide the binary for the XDS110 firmware. You could try changing the below in the target config file advanced settings.

Hi Kevin,

I gave it a try, but this did not resolve the issue. I get the described error independent from the selected power source (probe or target supplied power).

Is there some setting that may help inside the board data file? Mine is currently marked as "auto generate", where can I find it?

I don't know of a way to disable the Vtref check.

There is no place on your board where you could run a wire from the 3.3V rail to the debug probe connector?

Hi Gus,

thanks for your reply. Of course, there is a place to get the 3.3V. Anyway, it's not on the dedicated debug-connector.

I expected a solution, where you can e.g. set a flag to skip this check - the debugger on the dev-board doesn't do this check either...
