TMS320F28379D: CLB Outputs for eCAP inputs 1 to 6

I was trying to see if there is a possibility to use any output from the CLB as an input to the eCAP capture modules (INPUT7 TO 12). I would like to implement a debouncer in hardware using CLB logic and have the CLB output fed into the eCAP inputs. Checking the 28379D datasheet, it seems this is not possible, is that correct? Is there any alternative?

Hello José,

Per the CLB Output Signal Multiplexer section in the CLB chapter of the reference manual, there is a way to connect the CLB to the ECAP_OUT signal, is this what you're asking about?

Unfortunately there does not seem to be a way to configure the ECAP_IN signal to go from the CLB to the eCAP peripheral using what exists in the CLB. I will forward this post to an expert on the XBARs to confirm whether this is capable of this connection or not.

Hi Jose,

There is one way to do this indirectly but it will introduce non-negligible propagation delay compared to the CLB output connecting to ECAPIN directly.

You can route the CLB output to any GPIO using the CLB Output XBAR, then read this GPIO with an INPUTXBAR and configure the ecap input mux to read the inputxbar.

However, I can't use the suggested loopback since I don't have any more available pins in the project.

Hi Jose,

If you don't have any spare GPIOs to route the CLB output to then unfortunately there is no way to route the CLB output to the ECAP input.
