C2000 Appropriate?

I'm looking for something to do the following:

small (I think all qualify)
robust (specifically cold-heat differential)
ability to process images taken by a b/w camera under low-light conditions - need to differentiate individual points of "light"
ability to search quickly (speed is key) through a stored database of points (possibly in binary format?) to match up to distinguished points from above
ability to rapidly perform calculations in three-dimensional space

Would the C2000 be appropriate? I'm also looking for something that is easy to program, preferably using C++.

The tasks you mention seem more appropriate for a DSP such as the C6000 series, especially if you do not need the C2000 control peripherals such as PWM and ADC.

Thanks Daniel, I'll look into the C6000. I was originally looking at the ARM processors, but I decided they were overkill for my application. Do you know if the C6000 can be programmed with a C++ development environment?

Yes, there is a C++ compiler environment for the C6000 product line.
