TMS320F28379D-Q1: Microcontroller for aeronautical DAL certification

Part Number: TMS320F28379D-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMS320F2800157-Q1

We would like to get DAL B or even DAL A in the future, but for initial no certification is proposed. But we would like to be certification-oriented in our design. The documentation for passing DO254 and DO178 is also required.
DO254 is for hardware and DO178 is for software.

I might need the functional safety documents to achieve this.

But first we would like to have some help about selecting the right MCU for this application. We would like the MCU for motor control for aeronautical, defense and space sectors. Maybe as traction also.

Our first sight is the above mentioned (TMS320F28379D-Q1) but others may fit better for the intended application and certification. Could anyone help us about what MCU are being used in this type of application? And for future above-mentioned certification as well.

Thanks in advance.

Kind regards,

- Angel R.

  • Hi Romero, TMS320F2837x got all the peripherals and computational power for motor control. we also have a variant TMS320F28377D-EP offering broader temperature range. Depending upon your motor control architecture, you may also want to consider TMS320F2800157-Q1 supporting – Hardware integrity up to ASIL B and SIL 2. Devices are supported by functional safety manual together with diagnostic libraries. for space grade, please refer to SM320F28335-EP and SM320F28335-HT . Regret delay in our response.
