TMS320F28386S: PUMPREQUEST on 386S

Greetings,

According to spruii0e, the PUMPREQUEST register for CPU1 is in the IPC registers for CPU2 which does not exist in the 386S. I assume that the CPU1 to CPU2 IPC registers do not exist. But does the PUMPREQUEST register still exist?

That register is applicable for single-core devices as well, since M4 core is present.

Hi Hareesh,

That register is in the register set shown in Table 16-7. CPU1TOCPU2_IPC_REGS_CPU1VIEW Registers. Since CPU2 does not exist, will those registers still exist? Or is PUMPREQUEST the only register which exists in that register set? Or is it the only register which is functional?

Hello Ed,

Your last guess is correct. The CPU1TOCPU2_IPC_REGS_CPU1VIEW register aperture still exists, but PUMPREQUEST is the only functional register in that aperture for the F28386S device. The other registers are technically there, but they are meaningless since there is no CPU2 on the other end to respond to them.

In other words, there is only one pump semaphore register, and each CPU has its view of that register within one aperture.
