SFRA: SFRA GUI Connectivity

Part Number: SFRA
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMDSCNCD28379D

Hello experts,

We developed a control card based on F28379D. The control card do not have onboard usb debugger (XDS100v2) and we are using external JTAG only.(XDS110) can we connect SFRA Gui using this ?

  • Hi Anoop,

You can use XDS110 usb debugger to connect with SFRA GUI. For successful connection, you need to ensure few things as mentioned below: -

    1. Open Device Manger and check whether that XDS110 debugger is showing up under Ports (COM & LTP)

    2. Open the .ccxml file which you are using for the project through CCS and do 'Test Connection' check. If it is failing, then you can use targetConfigs (ti.com) as your reference to create new .ccxml file for your project.

Once this serial communication is established, you are good to go ahead and run the SFRA GUI.

  • But my doubt is GPIO28 & 29 are used in SFRA for SCI communication, and both have not any connection to JTAG pins. Still the communication is possible with GUI using external jtag ? while in the control card  (TMDSCNCD28379D) developed by TI, the on board usb debugger having sci lines and having physical connection to SCI pins of MCU.

  • In TMDSCNCD28379D control card, pinmux configuration allows to use GPIO28 as either SCIRXA or UARTRXA. Similarly GPIO29 can be used as either SCITXA or UARTTXA. In the "SFRA_GUI_config()" function, GPIO28 & GPIO29 are getting reconfigured as SCIRXA & SCITXA repectively(Details are mentioned in section 3.4.4 of C2000Tm Software Frequency Response Analyzer (SFRA) Library User’s Guide (Rev. A) (ti.com)). If your controlled supports this kind of pinmux configuration, you will also be able to use the SFRA GUI. You may need to change the pin number in SFRA_GUI_config() accordingly.
