TMS320F28388S: Error -1135 @ 0x0 , Debug probe error

Hi,

I'm currently working on a custom PCB using the TMS320F28388S. I have developed with this IC before and haven't encountered this issue. Below is a copy of the error message when I try and debug:

In the .ccxml target configuration file I can test the communication and it come up as successful:

I have spent the past couple of days researching possible fixes but they have come up with this same result. Can anyone offer any additional thoughts on possible fixes.

Hi,

Are you getting this error on multiple boards or only on few specific boards ? Also have you program any application on the boards ?

Hi,

I haven't previously had this issue. The error is coming up on a new revision of a board that previously worked fine. The changes in revision has no effect on the connections to the MCU as it was changing the interface connector from USB mini b to USB C. I have confirmed my PC communicates with the on PCB FTDI and the MCU communicates via the target configuration 'Test Connection' feature. The JTAG connections have been made the same as the TMDSCNCD28388D development board. I have only made 1 of this revision to check if it works before producing multiple for product testing.

It is a freshly made PCB with no program flashed on it.

What is the status of XRSn pin of the device ? Can you prober the XRSn pin and send me the snapshot ?

XRSn seems to be infinitely toggling every ~14ms.

Is this same on working board ? If not then you need to check the device power supply and see if there is any change on working vs non-working board.

I've managed to find the fault. I have a 0R link connected to the VDD3VFL pin which looked like it had soldered correctly. It was hovering above the smd pad. After soldering this properly, the board fully works.

To help anyone else that reads this:

The working board has XRSn active HIGH. From what I've read this is correct on the working board as the flash has been programmed. The toggling every ~15ms seems to be the watchdog as the flash is blank (erased).
