TMS320F28388D: Ethernet PHY DP83822IRHBR connection.

Part Number: TMS320F28388D

Hi champs,

My customer is facing the Ethernet PHY DP83822IRHBR connection problem, the PHY1 works well but PHY0 fails to work. He conducts the PHY SWAP experiment and makes sure the connection problem follows PCB, because F28388D is BGA package so it is difficult to do DSP SWAP test.

According to my customer, there has no TX clock signal to PHY0. He wants to know what signals he needs to check to solve this problem, makes sure PHY0 works without problem.

Please refer to below reset and TX clock waveforms of NG and OK units.

** PHY reset signal (left side is NG unit and right side is OK unit).

** TX clock waveform (left side is NG unit and right side is OK unit)

Please advise how to debug this problem, thank you.

Regards,

Luke

  • Hi Luke,

Is your customer using the PHYs for EtherCAT or Ethernet? Also just to confirm, did you say that the problem follows the PHYs when the customer swapped the PHYs between P0 and P1?

From my understanding, TX_CLK is an output from the PHY, so there may be some configuration issue with the PHY. Is the customer able to read their PHY registers through the MDIO interface?

    Best Regards,
