Hello dear Experts,
I would like to test an NMI mechanism while running an Illegal Instruction from CLA.
I try to run an Illegal Instruction from CLA by modifying the RAM code of CLA with an unauthorized opcode after having set the appropriate NMI Illegal Instruction ISR and vector. The CLA run the Illegal Instruction as a NOP instruction and no Illegal Instruction NMI is raised. This mechanism works fine on CPU side but unfortunately not on CLA side.
Have you any hints or suggestions to achieve this ?

I currently have tested this with TMS320F28375S DSP and CCS 8.3.

This is behavior when CLA executes an illegal instruction (from device TRM) -

This does not generate an NMI.

Hello Veena,
I try to cause an Illegal Instruction from CLA by modifying its memory with an invalid opcode. I have listed all opcodes from TRM and identified some not listed as illegal instruction. Unfortunately, nothing happen. The action described in section 6.5.4 of TRM doesn't occur. The CLA task runs as if no bad opcode has been fetched and the MIRUN flag of the task is always reset at the end of the CLA task.

Could you give me some wrong opcodes causing an illegal instruction behavior or all other ways to cause a CLA Illegal Instruction?

Just having the memory filled with 0s should cause an illegal instruction
