TMDXIDDK379D: Electronic cam

Good morning,

I would like to make an electronic cam using the TMDXIDDK379D.

It should be able to control DC brushed, PMSM and ACIM and all the encoders that the TMDXIDDK379D supports.

Could you give me any pointers from where should I start? There are so many example projects and information that I'm lost.

Hi Kevin,

I think I made a mistake during Incremental Build Level 2 and the breaker went off. After checking what I broke, it seems that the pins BS2 (DC Bus) and BS3 (GND) are shorted. Also pins 37 (DC BUS) and 35 (V Phase) of M4 are shorted.

Should I replace the PS21765?

Are you testing with a multimeter? Does it show shorted when you swap the multimeter probes? If so, the IGBT in PS21765 may be damaged.

Hi Kevin,

You're correct, I'm using a multimeter to test it. It shows it's shorted both ways so I'm not reading the diode.

I'll order a PS21765. Do you know if TI should repair it? Or can I do it myself? I know I broke it, I'm not asking for any warranty.

Seems to be damaged then.

We unfortunately do not offer repair service. The heatsink will need to be removed to replace the part, believe it's just held on with standard screws.
