TMS320F28379D: Using Multiple Compiler Versions

Great!  I believe I have found the installer on TI’s web site (https://www.ti.com/tool/download/C2000-CGT/18.12.5.LTS).  When I try to install it, the default location is the downloads folder in my user directory.  I think it should be in the ti folder under C:\ti\<CCS version>\ccs\tools\compiler.  From there should I create the ti-cgt-c2000-xx.yy.zz.LTS folder and install it in there?  Are there any installation instructions?  Is there any way to install it so that it is available to any CCS version we are using (we use multiple versions)?  Sorry for so many questions…

Hi Omer,

I did that, but CCS does not recognize the new compiler. Is there something else I need to do after the installation?  I am using CCS 10.4.0.00006.

Hi Ed,

Did you try selecting the 'Refresh' button and/or restarting CCS? If you check the contents of the compiler folder that you created, do you see something like below?

I used CCS version 12.6, but that shouldn't affect the ability to install different compilers.

Yes.  I deleted the workspace so it would be clean, and brought up CCS again.  The contents of the new folder appear as follows:

I have 12.5.0 installed, and this is what I get.

I'm not sure why it's not showing up for you, all I did was install the compiler and make sure the output folder for the installation matched the name, it shows up for me. I will forward this to the CCS experts to see if they're familiar with how to resolve this.

Technically you can install it anywhere. But I would recommend installing in C:\ti. All CCS versions/installations will typically search for new products and compilers there.

The above should work. It worked for me after I pressed the "Refresh" button

I'm not sure what the issue on your end could be. Could you reinstall in C:\ti?

Ahhh...  The Refresh button worked.  I also noticed that the "Search for tools each time..." check box is not checked.  I guess CCS is storing the list of compilers it knows about somewhere else and only looks for more when you ask it to do so?
