TMS320F28388D: EtherCAT development tools -licensing fee

I would like to exchange data between TMS 320F28388 EtherCAT slave controller (ESC) and normal Windows PC over EtherCAT protocol and display the data on a cutomised GUI. The slave side (ESC) can be developed using CCS.I understand the TwinCAT software from Beckhoff is for the PC (EtherCAT master). Upon contacting Beckhoff, realised that TwinCAT and TwinCAT HMI tools are paid. So could someone guide on whether these tools are mandatory for EtherCAT master or if there are any other options available.

For developing GUI, do we have an option to transfer the data directly from TwinCAT framework to a custom built UI Windows C# application?

    I believe this would be better answered by Beckhoff.

    I have seen many different options for EtherCAT master. Most have been paid, but some have been free. I cannot recommend a specific one since I have only used TwinCAT, but you could probably find free or open source EtherCAT master software online.
