TMS320F28335: TMS320F28335 not booting from Flash

I am not able to boot from flash TMS320F28335. The GPIO's GPIO84, GPIO85, GPIO86, and GPIO87 have a pull-up to 3.3V which should force the MCu to boot from flash. As far as I understand, the pull-up should be the only thing we need in our system to guarantee that it boots from flash.
Am I missing something else?

I am attaching the .cmd file content.
I'll appreciate your advice.

    Yes that's correct on the boot mode switches, all GPIOs should be in the high (1) position before connecting the device to CCS.

    Have you tried starting with the Timed_LED_Blink example within C2000ware (C:\ti\C2000Ware_5_02_00_00\device_support\f2833x\examples\timed_led_blink) and replacing the 28335_RAM_lnk.cmd file with the F28335.cmd file? By testing this, you can check the flash version of the linker cmd file.

    Another thing to check out is the generated map file (likely placed in the Debug_Experimenter_Kit folder). Is any memory for a Flash section (A-H) being used?

    Thanks for your response. The code from my initial post is our version of the F28335.cmd file. Our application is meant to reside and run from Flash so, yes at this point Sector A is being used and more sectors will be used in the future. The problem is that the MCU is not booting from Flash and besides the right .cmd file and the boot mode GPIO set to high, I don't know why the MCU doesn't boot once I power-cycle (turning off and turning on) the board.

    I ran the timed_led_blink changing the .cmd file to F28335.cmd file and effectively it works once I power-cycle the system, the LED keeps blinking. I'm comparing both .cmd files but I don't see anything that should prevent the booting from flash from happening.

  • Hi Wilson,

    Does it change if using a different Flash Sector for loading .TI.ramfuncs? The original F28335.cmd file loads from Sector D.

    What happens if you load the program in CCS and step through the device initialization within main? Does it ever reach main after loading the code?

    I don't have any problem if I'm debugging the run as it should be. If I program the MCU and power cycle, the code never runs, making me think that the MCU is not booting from Flash.

    After loading code and power cycling the MCU, can you connect to CCS again and perform a memory dump for the affected Flash areas?

    Looking to rule out the program not being loaded to Flash.

    If you are able to load the code through the bootloader, can you perform a memory dump and compare the two?
